We tell you the price before we start. If we find something worse under the floor, we stop and call you with a number before touching it. If we can't fix it, the first hour is halved.

Turn the water off at the stopcock. Usually under the kitchen sink. Turn it clockwise until it stops.
Open the cold taps downstairs to drain what's left in the pipes.
Boiler off, and electrics off in any room where water is near a light or a socket.
Bucket, not towel. Then call us — we'll tell you honestly if it can hold until morning, which is cheaper for you.
